Take all your aluminum cans to Baucom’s Recycling and tell them to put it on the Habitat account. You’ll help to save the environment and help a family in need. Baucom’s is located at 520 N Court Street, behind the Piggly Wiggly plaza.

Habitat for Humanity of Simpson County is working on a winter/spring build for Lisa Detherage and her mother Lois Adams. In January we officially broke ground to start building their new house at 510 Jefferson St. We will build using a Saturday work schedule. Please call us at 586-6515 if you’d like to help build or provide food for the workers.

Breakfast with Habitat

Thanks to Chuck and Susan Layne, the Kentucky Housing Corporation, Home Depot, and private donors, the Detherage/Adams build is almost fully funded. However, we also hope to have a fall build.

Due to the current availability of grant funds, we can build another new house in Simpson County in 2009 if we can raise $20,000. Therefore, we have set this as our fundraising goal for our annual Breakfast with Habitat event.

We are actively seeking corporate sponsors and table captains for this fundraiser. Corporate sponsors are featured in our program in the following categories:

1. Bronze:.........$500-$999
2. Silver:..........$1,000-$2,499
3. Gold:............$2,500-$4,999
4. Platinum:......$5,000-up

The job of a Table Captain is to secure 8-10 attendees for the breakfast program. Guests will hear from partner families, learn about Habitat’s work and our volunteer opportunities, and have the chance to make a voluntary donation.

This year’s Breakfast with Habitat event will be held Thursday April 30th from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. at the Christian Life Center in the Methodist Church.
