Our Vision
A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Our Mission Statement
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
About Habitat for Humanity of Simpson County
Habitat for Humanity of Simpson County is a non-profit (501c3) ecumenical Christian housing ministry. We bring families in need together with volunteers and resources to build and/or rehabilitate decent, affordable houses.
Habitat truly changes lives. We do it by providing homeownership opportunities for families who could not otherwise buy a home. Houses are sold to our partner families at cost, with no profit built in. Families enter into a zero-interest 20 year mortgage. Because we keep costs so low, partner families pay no more than $350 per month, including insurance and taxes. Often this allows families to have more expendable income.
Habitat Benefits the Community
Habitat for Humanity of Simpson County helps the community in a variety of ways. We provide practical outlets for volunteerism and the opportunity to meet new people. Grant money, secured from outside Simpson County, gets spent here which helps the local economy. For some projects Habitat hires subcontractors from within the community which creates jobs. Plus, Habitat homes increase the tax base in Simpson County. We estimate that our partner families pay over $11,000 a year in property taxes!
